Begonia kapuashulensis (temuyuk blue)

Endemic to Borneo, Begonia kapuashuluensis, grows in the Kapuas Hulu region. It usually grows near rivers with high environmental humidity (70-80%) and temperatures of around 15-25ºC, at an altitude of around 100-300 meters. It generally does not exceed 20 cm in height. Its oblique leaves, metallic brown in color, measure 1 to 4 cm long and have an intense red underside. The small flowers are pale pink. Like other Asian begonias, this species has a metallic blue iridescence which varies depending on the light received.
